Div Com reviews Mela Kheer Bhawani arrangements | KNO

SRINAGAR, JUNE 02 (KNO) : Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today convened a meeting to review the arrangements for Mela Kheer Bhawani which will be celebrated across the valley on June 20, 2018.

The meeting was informed that the Mela will be celebrated at Tulmulla in Ganderbal, Tikker in Kupwara, Laktipora, Mattan, Vessu in Anantnag, Manzgam, Devsar in Kulgam and at Kapal Mochan in Shopian district. Threadbare discussions were held on lodging, STP work, de-silting of Tulmullah nallah, construction of pre-fab sheds, repairing of dormitory and lavatory blocks, sanitation, barricading, fool-proof security, and general face-lifting in and around of the festival temples.

The Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned Deputy Commissioners for making necessary arrangements for uninterrupted power and drinking water supplies, transport, security, fire tenders, ration, bedding, installation of CCTV cameras, medical camps, additional accommodations besides ensuring road repairs and medical facilities at the temples where Mela Kheer Bhawani will be celebrated.. He directed the concerned district administrations to start joint control room in the premises of the festival venues and disseminate the contact numbers to the media for publicity so that the devotees are facilitated. Div Com asked PDD and PHE Engineers to repair all damaged lights and water connections on the priority basis at these temples at an earliest.

He also asked all the concerned Deputy Commissioners to hold separate meetings with representatives of Pandit communities to finalize smooth and hassle-free arrangements of the Mela Mata Kheer-Bhawani in their respective districts.

The Divisional Commissioner is expected to visit Tulmullah in Ganderbal next week, where a large congregation of devotees is expected, to inspect the Mela arrangements. Deputy Commissioners of all the districts of valley participated in the meeting via video conferencing, while as Director FCS&CA Kashmir, Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Managing Director JKSRTC, SSP Traffic, Superintending Engineers of PHE and PDD, Deputy Director Health Services Kashmir, Assistant Commissioner, Representatives from Kashmir Pandit Sangresh Samiti, All Kashmiri Pandit Association and GM Dharmarth Trust and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
